Grading
in the Gaijin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu System is based on individual ability.
This ability is usually measured by knowledge, dedication, conduct
and sometimes proficiency in tournament competition.
Differences
in grading are shown by the colored belts that are worn with the gi/kimono.
All
students start off with a White Belt. After White comes Blue, Purple,
and Brown. These are all student levels known as Kyu (grade) ranks.
After
Kyu ranks come Dan (degree) ranks. These are referred to as Instructor
levels. From 1st Dan to 5th Dan, all Instructors wear a plain black
belt. Instructors of 6th, 7th and 8th Dan wear a special red and white
belt. Instructors of 9th and 10th Dan wear a plain red belt.
Note:
Ranking in Gaijin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is only available exclusively
through the World
Combat Arts Federation.
